This blog is about life, pure and simple, if you put it into perspective. If you are familiar with what is meant by an "Irish Mile", then you should feel right at home here. If not, you will learn the meaning. This blog is about the wayside. When something falls by the wayside, that doesn't mean it isn't important. I hope you enjoy my stories, photos, poetry and song.

Pleasant Updates
I have some pleasant stories accompanied by photos that will update the world on what's been happening within my little "Irish Mile". How about let's begin with a visit from my friend, Amy, who lives in South Mississippi. My biggest issue with her visit was the question that haunted me as I anticipated her arrival-why would Amy want to make her first visit to my home in below freezing dead of winter weather? She and I soul searched the entire time she spent with me trying to find out why, we finally abandoned the problem and just enjoyed our time spent in close quarters. I enjoyed every minute of her visit and can hardly wait until she can come again. This time I won't worry about the technicalities. The worst has been overcome, 2 days together in my little house with nothing to do but watch football and listen to music, which we thoroughly enjoyed doing together. So, here are some photos of her visit. I took the liberty of taking her down to meet my bestie Bobby D., who lives in Enid, MS. These photos were taken there.
Her visit was a wonderful way to begin the new year. Following this early January visit, weather in North Mississippi has been extremely cold for our area. We've actually experienced something we normally don't get to...WINTER!
Caring for animals when temperatures are unusually cold (or hot) can be trying. Especially now that I'm "50"! At the age of 19, temperature isn't nearly so impressive as it is at the age of "50", but I managed. My little one, "Little Bit" I call her, my filly, has been learning that kicking is not something you can do just whenever you want and to whomever you want. I think she felt she was playing, but that's a dangerous game when she's horse and I'm human...hence the lessons, involving a quick snap around the ankles with a stick immediately following the kick(if there has been no actual contact). So I carry a stick each time I enter the lot to feed and water Girlie, Smoke Man and the little filly. Mom and Smoke Man don't try any craziness, they are welltrained already. Little Bit will come around. She is just young and doesn't know yet how she is expected to behave.
In the last two photos, you can tell there is a hard frost. These were taken in the morning sunshine.
